Mark Your Calendars! Scout Bar’s Upcoming Live Music & Events Checklist

Summer may (technically) be winding down, but the onslaught of live music coming to Scout Bar is only gearing up! The venue, which since its inception has earned the reputation of bringing some of the biggest national and international acts to Houston, will only continue to reinforce this notoriety in the coming months. Mark your calendars, Clear Lake—here’s the most current guide of upcoming highlights!

SEPTEMBER
September promises even more one-of-a-kind shows and national and international acts as Scout Bar hosts a variety of acts throughout the month. Not to be missed: PJ Sin Suela, often touted as the protégé to Residente (of Calle 13), a renowned rapper straight from Puerto Rico on September 15. Just a few days later, An Author, A Poet performs as part of their Sad Acoustic Evening along with Paperwolf, Pipedream, and Houston’s own female-fronted heavy metal band Apothica. Multi-platinum selling artist Geoff Tate, the original voice and songwriter of Queensryche will hit the stage as part of his musical concept titled Operation: Mindcrime – and will also play all the hits, from “Silent Lucidity” to “Jet City Woman” on September 21, with Mark Daly, Tame Fury, and Pulse Rate Zero slated to open the night.

But wait – there’s more! Ukranian progressive metalcore band Jinjer will rock the stage, and prepare to be blown away especially by the lead vocals from Tatiana Shmailyuk on September 22! And Morrissey fans, what a weekend – while the singer himself will perform only a week earlier downtown, the Speedway Tribute to Morrissey and The Smiths, along with Radio Duran will close out the month on September 28, followed by the hard-edged rock of Adelita’s Way on September 29.

OCTOBER
The international rock and metal vibe opens up October once again at Scout Bar! The Virgil Donati Band, featuring none other than renowned Australian drummer Virgil Donati will come banging through on October 1, while just a day later Celtica – Pipes Rock! will hit the stage with the classic sounds of the Great Highland Bagpipe, and members hailing from Scotland, Bulgaria, and Austria.

The Houston rap scene will be represented in a huge way on October 5 – legendary Houston rapper Paul Wall will make his first appearance at Scout Bar along with skyrocketing Pasadena native Big Yogi (don’t miss this month’s music feature on him in this issue).

The variety continues as Mushroomhead brings their metal, theatrics and artsy masks on October 15, while “Californa’s country hip-hop rebels” the Moonshine Bandits with Sara Ross and Dalton D’Rich help close out the month on the Red, White, and Blue Collar tour on October 24.

NOVEMBER
The head banging continues in November with Helmet on November 1st, with their innovative brand of alternative metal rock, while none other than Michael Graves—best known from the Misfits—hits the stage for his American Monster Tour along with Brand of Julez on November 2. Spicing things up only a few days later, Little Miss Nasty brings rock ‘n’ roll burlesque alive on the Scout stage on November 6, while the ever-popular (Hed)p.e will headline on November 29. Don’t miss their opening act, however!—the Blacklist Regulars, with a vocalist from Ireland and a band from Venezuela will pound the stage with their modern twist on the hard rock genre, reminiscent of bands like Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots.

All in all, the next few month’s Scout Bar’s scheduled performances are an unparalleled mix of rap, metal, rock, noted national and international acts, and so much more!  The Scout Bar website and Facebook page will continuously update fuller lists in the coming months as new acts are announced; however, make sure to take note of your favorite acts using this handy guide of highlights— and when you go, make sure to tell them The SCENE sent you!
