20th Gulf Coast Film Festival Presents Winning Films and Awards
The 20th Annual Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival will take place September 21 and 22 in Bay Area Houston – Seabrook. Film Screenings will take place on Friday, September 21 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, September 22 morning at 9 a.m. at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook. The Saturday night Gala and Awards Banquet on September 22 at 7 p.m. will also be at the Lakewood Yacht Club. The Gala will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to the talented and beautiful Suzanne Savoy. Ms. Savoy is TV, radio and stage actor who appears in recurring roles on House of Cards, Better Call Saul, Steven Soderbergh’s The Knick, and in comedy skits on John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight. The release of her most recent film, the Weinsteins’ The Upside, has been suspended due to allegations surrounding the company. While living in Houston during the 1980s and ‘90s, she worked with dozens of local writers and directors, crafting a career which spanned all media and which found her in principal and starring roles in The Trust, Miller and Muller, The Man With the Perfect Swing, The Cellar, America’s Most Wanted, and many other projects.
Ms. Savoy was founder, and for ten years, the director of Houston’s Mercury Studio, which provided training to on-camera artists over a period of two decades. She has voiced numerous cartoons and animé characters and appeared in the classic early video game, Crusader: No Remorse, created by Origin Systems in Austin, Texas. Now living in New York and working tri-coastally, Ms. Savoy still makes time to work on select projects with emerging film-makers.
Besides her busy film, video, radio, and TV career, Ms. Savoy currently tours and lectures throughout the US and Canada with her one-woman stage show, Je Christine, based on the life and works of medieval author Christine de Pizan.
Directors, actors and TV personalities along with Miss Kemah will be celebrity presenters and will be on hand for photos and autographs.. Some of the celebrity guest include PBS Host, Ernie Manouse. Local director Michelle Mower will be given the Ernie Robertson Esteem Award for her outstanding films on Lifetime network.
Films from all across America and the world were presented to the Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival.
