Shimmy & Shimmer: Ladies Night Out at South Shore Harbour with Abbi Walker!
Ladies, grab your girlfriends, anything with glitter, and get ready for a rocking poolside party at South Shore Harbour Resort! “Shimmy & Shimmer” is South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center’s first Ladies Night Out this fall, hosted by Texas musician Abbi Walker who will fill the evening with her unique brand of “Southern soul.”
“There’s no charge, no cover, and it’s open to the public,” said Adam Folden, Food and Beverage Manager of South Shore Harbour. “It will take place by our Oasis Pool, and there will be a DJ as well as a full bar and food menu. This is a really unique event conceptualized by Abbi,” he said of the first-time ever event, which has been a long time coming for Abbi Walker.
“I have been in the Texas music scene for a while, and I just feel like women are under-celebrated in the industry. I felt like this event was something that was needed. I thought that I would love to be able to build a night to celebrate the women I love and play my music.
‘Shimmy & Shimmer’ is about dancing, dressing up, and having fun. A girls-only event where women can really cut loose!” said Walker, whose music guarantees a non-stop party on the dance floor.
A fourth-generation Baptist preacher’s daughter who grew up in a musical family, Walker was playing piano and singing at the age of 3.
“When you go to church every week you’re exposed to live music each time, even though you don’t realize it. Music has just connected with something in me my whole life. I grew up singing in church, took piano lessons, and eventually starting writing my own music and stepped out to do shows on my own. I did several gospel records, then started doing country,” Walker said, though she feels “country” doesn’t really adequately describe her sound.
“My music is Texas grit, Southern soul, and spicy heart. It’s very eclectic. It’s a lot of soul and rock with a little country,” she said.
In addition to Abbi Walker’s live entertainment, vendors such as Kendra Scott with her jewelry line will be on hand; and in lieu of a cover, guests are invited to donate to the American Heart Association as part of a fundraiser for the organization if they so wish.
“Anyone who donates will also receive a raffle ticket for prizes for anything from a one-night stay in the penthouse suite with breakfast for two to a one-hour hosted beer, wine, and cheese reception for 20-30 people,” Folden of South Shore Harbor said. “But it’s really going to be a great night in general to dance, drink, and have fun!”
The Shimmy & Shimmer Ladies Night Out hosted and with live performances by Abbi Walker will take place Friday, October 12 at the beautiful South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center in League City. Special Abbi Walker room rates will be available for anyone staying the night (when making reservations, mention the Abbi Walker room rate!).
