Ellington Airport - October 17 and 18

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the Breitling Jet Team headline this year’s Commemorative Air Force (CAF) 31st Annual Wings Over Houston Airshow, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, at Ellington Airport. The Thunderbirds, performing as a team of six F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, return to Houston following their last Wings Over Houston performance in 2010. The Breitling Jet Team from Europe, the world’s largest professional civilian flight team that performs in seven L-39C Albatros jet aircraft, will end their first U.S. tour with this first-time performance at Wings Over Houston.

“We’re excited to present two very high-caliber jet demonstration teams this year, which is why we strongly recommend you purchase tickets now to get reserved seating,” said Bill Roach, airshow director. “We had record attendance last year and expect to draw even more people who haven’t seen the Thunderbirds here in five years, and they also want to see the Breitling Jet Team on its first U.S. tour. We’re still putting the final touches on the show and will update our website as we finalize performances and special events.”

The show also features civilian acrobatic performances and reenactments by vintage CAF military aircraft; the performance list and show is being finalized and updates are posted on the show’s website, www.wingsoverhouston.com.

Other highlights of the show include static displays of vintage and modern military aircraft as well as numerous exhibits and activities including: Heroes & Legends Tent featuring distinguished veterans signing autographs and memorabilia, NASA Driven to Explore Exhibit, Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Hangar 57, Experimental Aircraft Association, National USA Forces Museum, The 6th Cavalry Historical Association, Kid’s Carnival, motion simulator rides and more.

Visit the airshow’s website, www.wingsoverhouston.com, for show updates and to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 888-4-FLYSHOW. Purchase early for best pricing as ticket prices go up as event nears and to secure reserved seating. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on show days, but premium reserved seats sell out early. General admission tickets will also be available at area Kroger stores by mid-September.
