Chef Jarrett Branch Mainly Drinks: 223 West Main Street,  La Porte • 281-867-1700

Experience: I have had a swift ride in the career field.  I started my “official” journey in 2012 which I attended Culinary School at Galveston College.  From that point on, I haven’t been able to stop.  I quickly started working at a major hotel and spa on the [Galveston] Island under the tutelage of some great chefs.  I found my home here at Mainly Drinks in January of 2014.

Your Specialty: My specialty is working with Southwest flavors.  Bold, flavorful food, that is simple and to the point.  Most importantly, it tastes great!

Signature Dish: I am very proud of all the dishes on our new Mainly Drinks menu.  Each one makes a statement for our love of food here.  The Blue Corn Crusted Mahi is my favorite.  It allows the customer to see what Mainly Drinks has really become.

Have you ever prepared a meal for anyone famous or infamous?  Not yet.  I’ve always said that I wanted to compete on Iron Chef America and lose to Bobby Flay; that still rings true! Though it’s thought that chefs have considerable ego, but what isn’t always said is that they are great teachers, and I’m looking forward to more teachers.

Please share 1 special cooking tip or technique for our readers: Use your imagination.  Envision in your mind what the food tastes like before you make it.  Anything that helps in building your palate helps develop you into a better chef.
