Cafe Adobe: Where Tuesdays Are The New Thursdays
May 02, 2015 10:21PM ● By Corinne MooreGet ready, because Cafe Adobe, located at 1330 Bay Area Blvd. at Baybrook Mall in Friendswood is known for its fabulous patios, award-winning margaritas, and freshly hand-made Tex-Mex food; and it’s about to blast Tuesday nights into the lime-flavored light.
Beginning on Cinco de Mayo, Café Adobe is kicking off their Tuesday Night Patio Series. On Tuesday, May 5, Cafe Adobe is hosting Rod Ryan and FM 94.5 The Buzz with a huge Cinco De Mayo celebration with food and drink specials and much more. Then on following Tuesday nights, they will present live rock and roll on the patio from 6 to 10 p.m. with infectious grooves from The Slags along with $3 margaritas, $1.75 drafts and value-priced beer buckets.
Celebrate Café Adobe’s famous happy hour daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with awesome drink specials and specially priced food served in the bar areas from 3 to 6 p.m. Check out the many flavors of their award-winning margaritas or the Margarita Flight (four specialty infused mini-margaritas). Their infusion flavors come from around the globe: Italia (Amaretto Di Saronno), Sangria (fruit-based wine punch), Chambord (raspberry liqueur and vanilla, citrus peel, honey and cognac) and Midori (the fruity sensation of melon liqueur.)
Since opening in 1981, Café Adobe has been using the freshest ingredients in their authentic recipes. The experienced chefs and cooks have brought their passions to fruition by providing customers the taste of traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern twist. Café Adobe’s staff is made up of long-term, customer-service oriented employees who wish to make your dining experience memorable.
There is a casual, fun atmosphere inside the restaurant, and a laidback, relaxed feel outside on the patio.
Virtually all the dishes are made from scratch such as the salsa, guacamole, and tortillas. Some of the signature dishes on the menu are the Avocado Adobe (half an avocado stuffed with cheese and your choice of ground beef or chicken, or grilled chicken, steak, or shrimp, then lightly battered and deep-fried, and topped with a ranchero sauce. Served with rice, and choice of refried or borracho beans); or the Chicken or Shrimp Bravo (marinated chicken breast or shrimp stuffed with jalapeños and Monterey jack cheese, wrapped in bacon, and coated with a sweet teriyaki glaze, and served with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole); or the sizzling fajitas. For those wanting to taste of each type of fajita, then it is best to choose the Fajita Sampler (marinated fajita beef, grilled chicken, jalapeño sausage, grilled shrimp and three of their popular Shrimp Bravo served with tortillas, rice, beans and fajita toppings).
For a lighter fare, Café Adobe offers lighter dishes: the Blueberry Salad and the Mayan Shrimp (jumbo shrimp sautéed and served with stir fried vegetables, rice, beans, pico de gallo and guacamole).
Café Adobe opens every day at 11 a.m. Brunch favorites can be ordered daily, too, so you don’t have to miss your breakfast foods such as the Taquitos (breakfast tacos made with freshly scrambled eggs and choice of bacon, sausage, cheese, beans, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and jalapeños).
