Noah’s Ark Bar & Grill: Island Atmosphere Close To Home
Apr 15, 2015 09:14AM ● By SCENE MAGAZINE STAFFNoah’s Ark has three outdoor decks each boasting the feel of an island paradise. The Parrots Nest (their upstairs Palapa bar for the 21-and-over crowd) boasts a stage, a dance floor, a large seating area, and a full-service bar. Decorated with bamboo, cedar and has an island theme throughout (complete with a beautiful hand painted mural), the atmosphere radiates a tropical feel year round.
Enjoy the fun of Open Mic Nights on Thursdays, "Jerry-oke" Fridays nights and live bands Saturday nights on the stage upstairs under the “Largest Palapa Bar on the Bay.” Order some Hot Mermaids for good luck. The savory dish (shrimp wrapped in bacon and jalapeño pepper, dipped in beer batter, and deep fried) is a customer favorite and pairs well with the Galactic Coast Sneaky Blonde. Or choose a signature drink such as an Oyster Shooter (an oyster combined with vodka, Bloody Mary mix, Tabasco, and is served in a shot glass); or a Coronita Rita (a margarita infused with an upside down 7-ounce Corona); or the Noah’s Rita (a specialty margarita served on the rocks and in an icy cold mug).
Of course, you can opt for a glass of wine from Noah’s Ark’s abundant wine list. Suggestions from their selections include Cavit’s Moscato and Pinot Grigio, Mark West’s Pinot Noir, Robert Mondavi’s Merlot, Red Guitar’s Sangria, and Estancia’s Unoaked Chardonnay.
On stage downstairs, join the Parrot Head party on Friday nights beginning at 7 p.m. with some of the best local party bands taking the stage. Saturday nights (also on the downstairs stage), there's karaoke hosted by Vickie. Or if you prefer, partake in one of the many Texas Hold ’em poker games that are held on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Noah’s Ark serves tasty signature items that are sure to please throughout the week. It’s no secret that the best-selling items on the menu are the oysters. Noah’s Ark loves creating their oyster specialties and they know you will love them too. They can be ordered grilled or on the half shell. The Ark Oysters are grilled with shrimp, Colby Jack cheese, and garlic butter; while the Oysters Bienville are grilled with a lemon cream, shrimp, and parmesan cheese. Need a little spice in your life?
Opt for the Jalapeño Oysters (hot picante sauce, mozzarella cheese, and jalapeño peppers) that are just the right bit of heat. Don’t worry if you cannot decide which to order because Noah’s Ark offers the “2 by 2,” a sampler of all the grilled oysters.
Popular favorites include the Hawg Burger (a one-pound Angus beef flame-broiled burger with two slices of bacon, Swiss and American cheese). In addition to po-boys, wraps, subs, and baskets, the kitchen also offers a popular fried meatloaf sandwich.
Think outside the bun and be tempted by one of Noah’s Ark’s rotating daily specials. On Mondays and Thursdays, check the restaurant’s Facebook page for the Chef’s Special that is served “until it’s gone.” On Tuesdays, enjoy the savory pork roast special. And on Wednesdays, it’s “All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti” or Chili Spaghetti. As a bonus, kids 8 years old and younger get to eat spaghetti for $1.99 on that day! Rounding out the week, 12 scrumptious shrimp dinners are offered at $12.95 each all day on Friday.
Breakfast is served all week, but on Sundays, a breakfast buffet is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hosting an event has never been easier since Noah’s Ark has full-service in-house catering. They can handle the details. This unique venue offers three areas available for weddings, receptions, parties, reunions, or any type gathering. There is no charge for the use of these unique spaces with the purchase of food and beverages. Call 281-339-2895 to reserve.
