On April 20, from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. Salon Avante is helping raise money for fellow coworker Jodi Upton. This a single mom was 7 months pregnant and suffered from preeclampsia.

"We are hosting a fundraiser to help with rent, bills and my finances including medical bills due to all this. She will be out of work for a while. Which is difficult for her," said Salon Avante owner Brenda Oliverez. (Thousands of women and babies die or get very sick each year from a dangerous condition called preeclampsia, a life-threatening disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Preeclampsia and related disorders such as HELLP syndrome and eclampsia are most often characterized by a rapid rise in blood pressure that can lead to seizure, stroke, multiple organ failure and death of the mother and/or baby. Although, Jodi did survive this ordeal, baby did not.)
