New Restaurant Report: Las Haciendas in South Shore Harbor

Apr 03, 2013 09:05PM ● By SCENE MAGAZINE STAFF
Established in 2002, Las Haciendas Mexican Bar and Grill has been serving authentic Mexican cuisine in the Bay Area for 11 years. In February, the family-owned restaurant opened their fourth location at 2951 Marina Bay Drive (in League City) at South Shore Boulevard. Enjoy lunch or dinner indoors or outdoors in a festive and casual environment.

Choose from one of the 30 lunch specials to satisfy your cravings Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Try the fajita combo for one, Pescado Empanizado (fried catfish with fries and two shrimp,) Pechuga Cilantro (grilled chicken breast served with rice and beans, and fresh jalapeños), or the Filete A La Mexicana (grilled fish topped with Mexican sauce and rice with a salad).

The great food and friendly service continue into dinner time too. Order a new item from Las Haciendas’ mouthwatering menu like the satisfying South Shore Harbor Salad (three kinds of lettuce, cucumber, olives, tomato, spinach, fresh cheese, and your choice of beef, chicken or shrimp), the light Summer Salad (three kinds of lettuce, spinach, tostada chips, mango, onion, tomato, nuts, grilled shrimp and fresh cheese), the succulent Cancun Platter (grilled chicken breast and four grilled shrimp shish kabobs served on a sizzling grill with steamed broccoli, tortillas and charro beans), the sweet Mango Tilapia (grilled shrimp shish kabob, with rice and steamed broccoli), or the Special Dinner (grilled chicken breast, grilled tilapia, spinach and broccoli, topped with seafood sauce and rice).

Of course, for the traditional tastes, Las Haciendas offers enchiladas, tacos al carbon, flautas and fish tacos. A local favorite is the Nachos Haciendas that are topped with grilled chicken or beef fajita, beans, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and jalapeños.

Save room for flan, sopapillas, tres leches cake, or fried ice cream. Complete your meal with a tempting dessert or an after-dinner drink like the Mexican Coffee. This bold drink is made with tequila and Kahlua® coffee liqueur; then mixed with a fresh cup of coffee and topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Las Haciendas has over 50 different margaritas to choose from. The house margarita is a timeless favorite that draws fans from all over the area. This frosty concoction can be requested frozen or on the rocks and with or without salt. It also comes in a variety of flavors: traditional lime, raspberry, banana, mango, piña colada, sangria, strawberry, guava, and peach.

Las Haciendas is great for groups, too. Catering is available as well as a party room. Stop by and tell them you read about them in The SCENE. Visit www.lashaciendasgrill.com to view an online menu.
