First Gritty Goddess at Moody Gardens a huge success

The first Saturday in November, more than 3,000 women crawled, climbed, slid and ran their way through the Gritty Goddess womens 5K obstacle and mud run. The event at Moody Gardens in Galveston was a fundraiser for Girls on the Run Greater Houston, Komen Houston, and The Rainbow Connection camp for children with cancer and blood disorders. Participants dressed in crazy outfits, and teams wore matching shirts displaying their team names.
Gritty Goddess is non-competitive, focusing on fun and camaraderie, while challenging women with more than 23 obstacles. The course includes mud, foam and water throughout the grounds of beautiful Moody Gardens. Afterwards, participants enjoy ice cream sundaes, live music, and alcoholic beverages, all included in the entry fee. There will be two Gritty Goddess events in 2013, both at Moody Gardens, on May 4 and September 28.
