Jul 15, 2012 04:46PM ● By SCENE MAGAZINE STAFFCabo is a premier place to unwind, let loose, and just have a good time any day of the week. That’s why the term “A.W.O.L.” (After Work On the Lake) has become more than a battle cry. A.W.O.L. has become the much appreciated transition from work to play. The friendly crowd that assembles at Cabo knows how to have some fun!
The waterfront venue is located in the heart of Seabrook at the intersection of Nasa Road 1 and Lakeside Drive. Cabo is spacious and has numerous amenities to keep you entertained. There is something for everyone, such as pool tables, ping pong table, darts, electronic games, jumbo-sized Jenga blocks, and a shuffleboard table.
But Cabo is more than just fun and games. Cabo is happy, and it shows! The generous “Happy Hour” specials are more than pleasing. Some examples of nightly drink specials are $2 drafts, $1.50 wells, $2 Jagers, and $2 domestics. Try the signature “CABO-tini.” The rich and intense flavor of raspberry vodka is fused with the fresh and fruity character of peach vodka and blended with orange liqueur for a very potent start to a cool looking drink potion. Yum!
The drink specials go hand in hand with the tasty kitchen deals. On Wednesday nights, Cabo offers $5 burgers. Then on Thursdays, it’s “Steak Night” with your choice of a $10 rib-eye, $12 filet, or $9 pork chop. Inspired by Head Chef Matt Williams are Cabo’s newest menu items: Green Chile Pulled Pork Tacos, Blackened Ahi Tuna, and the Sunset Burger.
The savory and satisfying Green Chile Pork Tacos are made of stewed prime pork, green chile sauce, queso fresco, onion, and cilantro. It is complimented with a side of chips and queso.
This is a recipe that seafood lovers will appreciate! An 8-ounce Ahi Tuna is seared and blackened on a hot skillet in a lime butter sauce and served rare for the best flavor. Pair the entree with a salad and your choice of baked potato, fries, onion rings or grilled asparagus.
The Sunset Burger is made from 100% Angus beef and topped with a fried egg, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and a side BBQ sauce. It comes with fries, onion rings, or chips and the option of lettuce, tomatoes, and onion.
Other restaurant quality food choices range from appetizers to sandwiches.
Enjoy your meal at the bar, at a table inside or outside on the deck. Cabo has abundant outdoor seating. It’s a beautiful site watching the water and boats, and the gorgeous sunset. The atmosphere immediately draws you into camaraderie with other like-minded folks. It feels so good to be A.W.O.L.!
Cabo has live entertainment seven days a week. After dinner, hang out until one of the area’s top bands begins to perform live on the ample stage. On Monday nights, Mama Tried takes the stage with an open mic night offered between sets. Big Richard is live every Tuesday night and Obsolete August each Thursday. Musical duos and trios, like Cassette Tape, are rotated on Wednesday nights. To complete the entertainment line-up, Cabo books DJs with awesome turntable skills who will take you back to the old school tunes and forward with progressive mixes.
